Dr. Tek Chand Kaul is a familiar signature in the field of music today. Dr. Kaul is one of the leading disciples of eminent Classical and Semi-Classical Vocalist Pt.(Prof.) Som Dutt Battu. He has done M.A. (Vocal), M. Phil (Vocal) and Ph.D in Music from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He is U.G.C-NET qualified and also has done Sangeet Prabhakar (Vocal) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. Along with all the disciplines of Classical Music, Semi-Classical Music and Light Music, Dr. Kaul is well versed in Gurmat Sangeet (Shabd-Kirtan) as well. Dr. Kaul is an approved artist from Radio and Doordarshan. Along with singing, he also can play many musical instruments like harmonium, tabla, guitar, keyboard etc. Dr. Kaul has performed in all over Himachal and other states of the country. Dr. Kaul has been honored by many social organizations including Himachal government; among them is "Kashitij Samman (Emerging Artist in Music)" by the Department of Language and Culture, H.P.Goverment and "Kala Aparnaji" by Bhimsen Music Foundation Khadag, Karnataka. Till March 2016, Dr. Kaul was working as Assistant Professor of Music in the music department of A.P.G. Shimla University. In April 2016, Dr. Kaul was selected for post doctoral fellowship (Post-Doc) by U.G.C. Dr. Kaul is the first person from Himachal to receive a post doctoral fellowship in music. Dr. Kaul has taught and conducted research as a Post-Doc Research Fellow in the Department of Music, H.P.University, Shimla from 2016 to 2021. Dr. Kaul has presented his many lectures and programs in various music seminars, workshops and stage performances. Dr Kaul has published almost four books and many of his research papers and research articles has been published in national and international journals.
